Question: Do I have two personalities? Do comment if you have thoughts; I want to hear it!

I'd like someone to come up with some definition of "childishness" and "childlike". And "having fun". Define. Elaborate. Tell me what makes you happy. I bet yours won't be the same as mine - who are you to judge then? But this is people being essentially people, isn't it - they judge, and they decide right from the start that anything that doesn't fit into the norm is abnormal or weird. But as long as you're happy, does it matter?
Fuck no. Let the judgemental ones continue to judge...while they're gossiping and talking about you, you're having your fun. Pity them.

Some people have the idea that the world owes them something. That to survive, it would mean taking as much benefit as you can from the people you know; that to get ahead, would be to think of yourself entirely and fuck all.
While that may serve a select few, I thank my parents for not bringing me up to think that way.
The world, and people, do not owe you something. Taking without giving may get you to places, may get you what you want, but it isn't going to win you friends. You give as good as you get. Give more, if you can. Give as much as you want. Give more than what is expected. Give to the ungrateful. While you may not be sainted enough to the point of not griping at all, you still have good intentions. Remember that. As cynical as you are, as tempted as you are to be as selfish as the other party, don't give in. One is enough. If more people gradually turn into takers instead of givers, don't join them. You ain't a saint, but you do what you think is right.
And I thank my parents for not bringing me up to be behave as though I were skint. As though I need to make sure that every single cent I spent would not benefit someone else more than it would do me. We're not like this, and to those who want it - have it. I'm not hard up.
And pettiness? It's you yourself. Ignorance isn't going to be cured unless you get this burst of self-awareness, but that, you have to get it from yourself. Nobody's going to give it to you.

Discworld isn't some weird place with weird characters - it's us: mirrored, exaggerated, transformed - but it's us, really. People being people, the faults and quirks and whims we live with it every day - people being mean, being nasty, but being generous as well, and forgiving, and doing what is right. (Not martyr-like, but doing it because you want to.)

Being 21, an adult, doesn't mean getting a whole load of wisdom and self-awareness the moment you're older. It's much more than that. And age doesn't matter in the end, because it's really up to you. Do what you want; do what you will - fuck up your life, or make it better; hurt people, or learn how not to; learn to look at yourself before judging others, or choose to remain ignorant. Being an adult means having the freedom to choose, but also the freedom to take on the consequences.

The important thing is to let it go. Let go of your hang-ups, your prejudices, your little pet peeves. They're not worth your time. And if people persist in being so, let them be. You don't have time for them either.
