The Garlic Chronicles (and sperm whale sushi)

*It's my 161st post! Yay meeeeeeeee!

Anyway. Just saying. Because I'm bored.

My mother left a box of chopped garlic in the fridge for several days - still in there - and now whenever someone opens the fridge door, you get a nice strong whiff of garlic. Even the margarine tasted of garlic when I ate it yesterday. Well with bread and peanut butter. Standard snack thingy when I know that my meal would be delayed. Kinda survived on that last year, with my appetite being affected by SPM stress and all that blah.

So how was last night ah? I meant the drama competition la. Not sure how to begin...so I won't start. Nyah. I think I'm fascinated with Edwin Sumun. :P And yeah - don't ever play ANY Muse songs if you're a college band trying to make it big. EVER. The band played Supermassive Black Hole yesterday, and it was cringe-worthy. The girl can NEVER be like Matt Bellamy - there is one and only one Matt, and you can never be like him - no, never! The lead guitarist tried to be like Matt, but couldn't. No way. Hell no. But I did like the performance of Oasis's Wonderwall.

Comment of the week on THINK Online:

Muse are the most overrated pile of wank from Thom Yorke's flaccid penis. We may be beggars but we CAN be choosers.

Whatever makes you happy la.

THIS IS DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to watch Pan's Labyrinth! Somebody! Anybody!

And because I'm bored, I shall now torment you with half a chapter of Douglas Adams's simply magnificent, incomparable, incredible, wonderfully random The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

Another thing that got forgotten was the fact that against all probability a sperm whale had suddenly been called into existence several miles above the surface of an alien planet.

And since this is not a naturally tenable position for a whale, this poor innocent creature had very little time to come to terms with its identity as a whale before it then had to come to terms to not being a whale any more.

This is the complete record of its thought from the moment it began its life till the moment it ended it.

Ah...! What's happening? it thought.

Er, excuse me, who am I?

Hello?

Why am I here? What's my purpose in life?

What do I mean by who am I?

Calm down, get a grip now...oh! this is an interesting sensation, what is it? It's a sort of...yawning, tingling sensation in my...my...well, I suppose I better start finding names for things if I want to make any headway in what for the sake of what I shall call an argument I shall call the world, so let's call it my stomach.

Good. Oooh, it's getting quite strong. And hey, what about this whistling, roaring sound going past what I'm suddenly going to call my head? Perhaps I can call that...wind! Is that a good name? It'll do...perhaps I can find a better name for it later when I've found out what it's for. It must be something very important because there certainly seems to be a lot of it. Hey! What's this thing? This...let's call it a tail - yeah, tail. Hey! I can really thrash it about pretty good, can't I? Wow! Wow! That feels great! Doesn't seem to achieve very much but I'll probably find out what it's for later on. Now, have I built up any coherent picture of things yet? [Me: You're not the only one, dearest.]

No.

Never mind, hey, this is really exciting, so much to find out about, so much to look forward to, I'm quite dizzy with anticipation...

Or is it the wind?

There really is a lot of that now, isn't there?

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very, very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide-sounding name like...ow...ound...round...ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground!

I wonder if it will be friends with me?

And the rest, after a sudden wet thud, was silence.

Which, when you think about it, does sound a lot like our lives. We go round questioning and questioning, with no answers to so many questions, and then, if you're not careful, death comes up, very fast - like the ground - and before you know it, you're the sperm whale squishing thud on the extremely friendly ground.

Morbid. But well then.

Captain Jack is back. Oh yesssssssssssssssss.

"Did nobody come to rescue me just because they missed me?"

Life, loathe it or ignore it, you can't like it. ~ Marvin

Hey, did anyone bother to read till here? That's nice!
