Hello and Goodbye, Mr. Brain Cell

I think I'd rather be force-fed lots of soya beans than to get up onstage, or go anywhere, to give an impromptu speech.

I need more Pratchett. There's another book sale going on somewhere...but I don't think I can go this time.

Sad. Very sad.

You can’t go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it’s just a cage.

More Pratchett. In a way that makes sense. Somehow.

Aww sweet. Found the poem quoted in The Amber Spyglass. Just those last two lines, but it did illustrate - *I promise there will NOT be any spoilers until after the movie*.

A Birthday by Christina Rosetti

My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love is come to me.

Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;

Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.
